He has become an invaluable asset, to our clients, in ensuring properties are operated efficiently with a high level of customer service. In addition, he has an extensive background in building and tenant construction management. Resulting from conducting over $50 million in capital improvements, new building construction and tenant improvements since joining Avison Young in 2000, he has created our Project Management group, and continues to oversee its growth. Jim is the co-founder of Ecovert Sustainability Consultants, a full service environmental consulting firm. Ecovert helps builders, developers, landlords and tenants transform their new or existing buildings into models of sustainability which meet environmental best practices. His projects include the Earth Rangers Centre and the Professional Engineers of Ontario and Scotia Plaza. Jim’s expertise and leadership in sustainability is recognized throughout the industry. He is the Leadership Chair of the Canada Green Building Council’s Greater Toronto Chapter and is the organizer of Green Drinks, Toronto’s largest monthly sustainability networking event.

Reg Barsoum is a Certified commissioning engineer recognized by ASHRAE, AEE & BCxA, as well as a Certified Energy Manager and M&V Professional. He is a Certified Engineering Technologist. Reg has more than 30 years experience in Building Automation Systems, Hospital facility management, and Construction Management. He has been working in the commissioning field for nearly 15 years. Reg’s BAS & commissioning experience has meant that he is frequently asked to troubleshoot complex and large systems in existing buildings, which are his passion. Reg is a co-founder of Ecovert Commissioning, a sister company to Ecovert Sustainability Consultants.

Trevor is a sustainability & project manager and LEED AP with Starlight investments, a residential & commercial asset manager with over $14 billion of assets under management. Based in Toronto; Trevor has 8 years of energy efficiency and sustainability experience in the residential & commercial sectors, renewable energy procurement as part of the microFIT program and several large scale LEED certifications. Trevor most recently over-saw the remote monitoring of over 100+ of Starlight’s building automation systems on their residential portfolio across Canada, with a proven track record of reducing building energy consumption of main HVAC plants. Now overseeing more than $10 million in annual capital expenditure on energy efficiency projects in Starlight Investments Energy Dept, Trevor is focused on electrical/water/gas efficiency projects as well as overseeing LEED & BOMA certifications across the portfolio.
